Web-based Teleautonomy and Telepresence

چکیده
Recent innovations in real-time machine vision, distributed computing, software architectures, highspeed communication, and mobile robotic systems are expanding the available technology for intelligent system development. These technologies allow the realization of intelligent systems that provide the capabilities for a user to experience events from remote locations and to interact with that location using an array of robotic devices. In this paper we describe research being done in the UCSD CVRR that will lead to the realization of a powerful and integrated traffic-incident detection, monitoring, and recovery system. Sensor clusters utilizing both rectilinear and omni-directional cameras will automate information gathering about the incident and provide a real-time televiewing interface to emergency response crews. Ultimately, this system will have a direct impact on reducing incident related highway congestion by improving the quality of information to which emergency personnel have access.

Web based Conference System for Intelligence Telepresence robot: a Framework
Once an individual has access to the Internet, there is a wide variety of different methods of communication and information exchange over the network, one of them is telepresence robot. This study presents a web framework for web conference system of intelligent telepresence robot. The robot is controlled using web conference system from Google App Engine, so the manager/supervisor at office/i...
متن کاملRevisiting the Antecedents of Flow Experience in Different On-Line Communication Environments
Flow experience is quite frequent when performing a variety of on-line activities and is a good predictor for on-line users’ loyalty and revisiting. Most previous research emphasizes the effects of challenge/skill, focused attention, telepresence and web characteristics on flow experiences. However, text-based communication systems without features of telepresence and web characteristics still ...
متن کاملDimensions of Teleautonomy in Mobile Agents
Teleautonomy, the remote issuing of instructions for control of an agent that is intended to function semi-autonomously while employing those instructions, is an important issue in intelligent agency. In most cases where intelligent agents are employed, we neither wish to directly control every detail, nor trust them to deal completely autonomously with every important task. Similarly, in multi...
متن کاملUbiquitous Telepresence
This paper describes a technology vision for the future that I call ubiquitous telepresence. The main idea of ubiquitous telepresence is to allow users to project their physical presence anywhere on the internet. Speciically, users are given the ability to explore and interact with many remote physical environments (e.g., all sites on the internet) through remote sensing and manipulation device...
متن کاملM-Learning, Mobile Experimentation and Telepresence with Cell Phones and PDAs
Mobile devices such as notebooks and PDAs are very interesting tools for web-based teaching and distant teaching today. We have adapted Web-based remote laboratory environments to mobile devices like PDAs and smartphones to remotely control a Pioneer 3 AT mobile robot.
